DRY NITROGEN GENERATORS
- SERIES DG

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

The DG system consists of an insulated tank, a power supply, a safety valve and a connecting tube incorporating a snap connector. Identify these in the storage case. Note that the top of the insulated tank is covered with a stainless steel screw-on lid.

OPERATION

  1. Unscrew the core unit from the insulated tank.
  2. Fill the tank about 2/3rds full with the liquid nitrogen *.
  3. Slowly lower the core unit into the tank. As boiling abates screw the core tightly into the tank *.
  4. Fit the silicone rubber tube into the push-in fitting.
  5. Connect the snap connector to your instrument or accessory.
  6. Drop the safety valve into the tank. Gently press it down and then leave it alone.

* WEAR GOGGLES AND GLOVES

About 1½ l/min of nitrogen will be produced and this will reduce slightly as the nitrogen boils off. If you require a high rate of dry nitrogen production, plug the power supply provided into a convenient electrical outlet and plug the lead into the socket on the generator. The rate of gas generation will increase to 3-4 l/min.

TO TOP UP WITH LIQUID NITROGEN

  1. Disconnect the snap connector and the power supply. Disconnection closes the valves built into the plastic container and isolates your accessory or instrument.
  2. Withdraw the safety valve. Put it in a warm place if possible.
  3. Fit the plastic funnel and add liquid nitrogen. It is impossible to over fill the generator *.
  4. Remove the funnel and replace the safety valve. Press it firmly downwards and twist a little and then leave it alone *.
  5. Reconnect the snap connector.

* WEAR GOGGLES AND GLOVES

PRECAUTION

During use, the top of the accessory will frost up. This is not a problem. As the temperature of the core falls, the seal between it and the core unit may not seal fully into the insulated tank. Re-tighten it every hour or so during use.

SAFETY NOTE

NEVER HANDLE LIQUID

REFRIGERANTS UNLESS YOU ARE WEARING PROTECTIVE CLOTHING - GOGGLES AND GLOVES ARE A MUST.
